Alternative Commercial Consent

FOSTER AND PARTNERS SCHEME - 2002

Prior to Sainsbury's relocation of their HQ from the site, they commissioned Stanhope and Foster & Partners to consider the redevelopment of the site.

On 8 January 2002, planning permission (01-AP-0649) was granted for the redevelopment of the site to provide a part 19 storey building with 5-7 storey podium buildings giving the following form of development:

At the time, the planning permission was subject to 22 conditions and was not implemented.

However, on 1st November 2006 planning permission was granted (06-AP-0974) for the same development, but with modified conditions. The revised conditions allowed the permission to be implemented, which was carried out by the Beetham Organisation in November 2006, through the carrying out of foundation works on site.
